Fixing an airy sound

Here's a good tip for fixing the airy sound in your flute.

1)play a scale, start with something easy like a c major scale.

2) listen closely to each note (are some notes clear and others breathy ?)

3) Can you find out what you are doing when making a clear sound? What are you doing when your making a breathy sound?

4) Try to compare the two and adjust accordingly.

  • If this doesn't work play the scale again and "sing" the notes as you play.....You heard me sing the C major scale as you play the flute..... (it will make a Really unusual sound) but trust me this exercise normally clears up any thin airy breathy sound.

Enjoy your exploration.
